Mexico Research Trip - March
Day 1 - It was a long drive from Austin to my first site - Bustamante. We had to stop at the border to get visas (permission to enter the country), but otherwise the drive was rather uneventful. Much of Northern Mexico looks a lot like Texas - flat, semi-arid vegetation (scrub trees, grasses, and catus). At Bustamante we set up camp at "Canyon de Ojo de agua," which translates to the canyon of the spring. The Mexicans call their springs, "eye of the water." It was a beautiful canyon with amazing geologic outcrops. The mountains consisted of folded and faulted limestone. The sunset was beautiful as well.
